Gigantor
era um robô movido a propulsão por jatos em suas costas,
controlado por um garoto de 12 anos chamado Jimmy Sparks (Carlos Centelha,
na versão em português). O robô foi criado pelo Dr.
Sparks, um cientista renomado, pai de Jimmy, para ajudar o inspetor
Blooper e a polícia japonesa em sua guerra contra o crime. No
Brasil, a série ganhou o nome de Homem de Aço e foi apresentada
na TV REcord e Tupi, no final dos anos 60, em preto e branco.
A animação foi criada por TCJ e a versão em inglês
foi produzida por Fred Ladd e Al Singer para a Delphi Associates Inc.
O tema musical da série, em inglês, foi escrito por Lou
Singer e Gene Raskin. A série em preto e branco tinha 96 episódios
no total, separadas em 2 séries distintas. A primeira ia do episódio
1 até o 25 e nunca foi traduzido para o inglês ou outra
língua. A segunda série, a qual nós conhecemos,
vai do episódio 26 até o 96.
